Welcome to Amsterdam – a city of captivating canals, cultural marvels, and endless exploration. Today you will embark on your ship, the Riverside Debussy, where you can get settled in on your home for the next 7 days. (D)

Monday, April 29 Amsterdam, Netherlands

Today you will have the opportunity to explore Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands. Navigate its intricate waterways and lose yourself in a city that wears its history with pride. Visit the Rijksmuseum and stand before Vermeer’s masterpieces, then journey to the Van Gogh Museum, where sunflowers and starry nights come alive. The Anne Frank House whispers poignant stories of the past, while bustling galleries and charming coffee shops redefine your idea of a perfect day. Tuesday, April 30 Arnhem & Nijmegen, Netherlands

Today you will venture East towards Arnhem, a historic city known for its stunning architecture, rich cultural heritage, and scenic location along the Rhine River. Visitors can explore the city’s many historic landmarks, such as the John Frost Bridge, the Eusebius Church, and the Museum Arnhem. The city is also home to several museums and galleries, such as the Netherlands Open Air Museum and the Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem, a haven of contemporary art.

This afternoon visit Nijmegen, a vibrant city known for its lively student scene. Visitors can explore some of the city’s many unique landmarks, such as the St. Stevenskerk, the Kronenburgerpark, and the Valkhof Museum. The city is also home to several festivals throughout the year, including the Four Days Marches, the largest walking event in the world. Wednesday, May 1 Antwerp, Belgium

Today you will cross the border to Antwerp (Antwerpen in Dutch), where centuries of history meld with the sparkle of diamonds. Dating back to Roman times, the city grew in importance during the Middle Ages and became a center of the diamond trade and a hub for art and science during the 16th century. Antwerp also played a significant role in the Reformation, and was sacked by Spanish troops during the Eighty Years’ War. In the 19th century, Antwerp experienced a revival with the construction of a new port and the growth of the diamond trade. Today, it remains an important European port city. (B, L, D)

Friday, May 3 Middelburg & Veere, Netherlands

Today you will find yourself in Middelburg, where time seems to slow against the backdrop of the serene Veerse Meer. This historic town, adorned with the Middelburg Abbey and the Stadhuis, pays homage to its past through its well-preserved landmarks. The town is also home to several museums and galleries, such as the Zeeuws Museum, which features art and artifacts from the region’s history and culture.
